Christmas day is a fun time for primary school children; they have heard the superb tales of Mr Claus and Rudolph and the special day of the 25th of December. Right through the build up, British kids are on the internet and in shopping catalogues hunting high and low for the very latest children’s toy for them to write at the top of their Xmas list. At primary school and nursery the very hottest conversation is what game they will be asking Santa Claus and if he will give them loads more action figures than their peers.
Every Xmas the action figure and toy market researchers and toy websites start making their forecasts about what toy will come up as the number one greatest seller for that Christmas time. In past times the British Isles have found the Playstation 2 and the Furbies coming in at the top.
One of the predicted highest selling action figures is from the fantastic Ben 10 range. Ben 10 is a children’s programme from the United States and is about a boy called Ben who finds an incredibly strange alien wrist watch device that attaches itself onto Ben’s wrist and provides him with phenomenal special powers. With his alien powers, Ben helps others when they need it as well as get into some fun mischief with Ben’s lovely cousin Gwen. With the terrific success of the cartoon, a super range of marvellous children’s toys have been made, these include action figures and video console games.
Another big seller this Xmas time will be kids board games, one of the most likeable being Monopoly. Loosely based on the economic concept of an organisation owning everything in their market, Monopoly is a magnificent family friendly board game that is amazingly popular that over six hundred million people have played Monopoly. Right through its terrific 100 year lifespan, the adult and children’s board game has seen it move into an online format, games console format and even an iPhone game.
Whilst best selling predictions are informative the real sales numbers will tell us what childrens toy was the greatest seller this Christmas period.
