Quick to Judge

Don’t be too quick to judge an opponent. I always try to get a read on my opponents as soon as I can, but every now and then it comes back to bite me in the butt. It’s important to get a quick read on your opponents so that you can start playing against them as soon as possible, but don’t be too quick to judge your opponents at Everest Poker.

It can be tempting to watch how someone plays one or two hands and think that you know how he plays, particularly if he plays the same way twice in a row. Two folds and you might start thinking that a player is some kind of passive pushover type when in reality, he’s just a tight aggressive poker player who’s just waiting for his hand to come. If you bet into an aggressive player, he may just bet right back at you, and if he’s got a hand, he just might beat you, too.

It’s cool to start evaluating your opponents immediately, but be sure to adjust your assessments as the poker game continues. Keep refining the reads that you put on your opponents and you’ll be a lot less likely to get surprised by a bad read.
