How Are Prams Different from Pushchairs

Many parents confuse between a pushchair and a pram. Though both these carriages are meant for small babies, there are certain significant differences between the two.

A pushchair has a seating arrangement that allows your child to look around and interact with the outside world. It is more compact and lighter in weight than a normal pram. On the other hand, a pram is a flat-bottomed carriage that has a cot-like arrangement and allows your baby to remain in a lying position while you push it.

Prams are more padded and comfortable and often have special features like inbuilt storage space, good suspension, and general protection from heat and dust, which make them more popular as baby carriages for newborns who spend most of their time sleeping. However, pushchairs are better suited for older kids who are curious about their surroundings and want to sit back while travelling.

You should never lose sight of the fact that the prime consideration while buying a pram or a pushchair should be your baby’s comfort and security. Hence, it is advisable not to cut costs to get a cheaper pram or pushchair, as it might turn out to be a wasteful expenditure.
