Amazing: make a B*U*N*D*L*E in 7 days with your own ebook!

What do you want to write? Why not write an ebook? Ebooks, sold from one- or twopage websites, has been a lucrative business for quite a few people and who knows? Perhaps it is your turn?

“How to write and publish your own OUTRAGEOUSLY Profitable eBook in as little as 7 days” is a no-nonsense guide to the essentials – finding out what to write about, how to kickstart the process, how to market your masterpiece and how to sell it – automatically.

I have read 10-20 books on writing. This is the most concise, lucid, thorough book I have read yet. I am not writing an ebook myself, though. I am writing a fiction novel (in Norwegian, so most of you won’t be able to read it if it ever is published – if it doesn’t become a huge success, that is! :) . With all the wheeling and dealing at my work, I felt like writing something for the pure pleasure of creating (and the tool below lets me concentrate on creating, not technology!).

That doesn’t mean that 7 day ebook didn’t help! No wonder considering the authors. Joe Vitale is the bestselling author of Hypnotic Writing, Advanced Hypnotic Writing, and Spiritual Marketing. Joe Edwards wrote Selling Your Home Alone and The TEN Dirty Little Secrets of Mortgage Financing – and both of them are making a very nice income.

Visit their website; see if it doesn’t capture you (like it did me). They have a special offer on the book: only $30, including some nice bonuses.
Jump over to http://www.smartsoftware.org/7day/ this moment – if only to enjoy the way these two authors use words to entice!

But you need a good tool to write with!

Quite often I come across simple software – easy to install, to use or to tweak. Less often I come across brilliant software, with brilliant execution, features or ideas. Simple, brilliant software is even rarer. The Journal is one such creature.

For some time, I’ve had a book in my head. I’ve been building the characters, setting up scenes and creating images and dialogues.

I have started on books before. I always hit a point where I get more captivated with perfecting the previous words, paragraphs and pages than I am with creating new words.

Sure, I know; writing teachers say Write without editing. Leave it all for the rewrite. Still your inner critic. Well, I am not capable of that – when I scroll down the Word-document, I spot flaws, errors and logical mistakes – and I must fix them. OCD, I guess.

Then I came across the Journal (TJ). At 3 Mb, it is a fast download, and it is something I can guarantee will stick in my Programs-folder like jam-spots to a three year olds sweater.

Once installed, you are asked to define a user. A nice feature; you can have more than one user and it allows you to password protect your inner thoughts.

What shows up once this is done looks like a simplified version of Microsoft Word. No clutter and no unnecessary features, though, only the basics such as different fonts/boldface/italics and so on. A feature not found in Word is the calendar. On the left side of the display you see the days of the month, with today marked in bold. As you type, the built-in spellchecker checks your spelling.

The genius of TJ shows up when you start it the next day. You start on a new, blank page – you can still access what you wrote yesterday, but it is in read-only mode (you can edit if you wish).

To me, this allows for a much more natural writing process – it flows, since I only glance through yesterday’s entry before I start writing.
In addition to the journal-feature, you have a notebook which stays static. I use this for noting down things I must research, ideas on situations and such.

To give you an impression of how different people use TJ, I have taken the liberty of copying some testimonials from its webpage:

“I’m an independent programmer, and I’ve used The Journal for almost three years now to keep up with my projects on a day-by-day basis. My clients are consistently amazed when I can quickly tell them the exact date we made a particular decision or software change, and all the factors we were considering at the time. The Journal has greatly increased my professional effectiveness and is second-to-none!” –Bill D. Pirkle

“I am a note-taker by profession (University teacher and literary critic) as well as compulsion, and routinely use several free-form databases in order to keep track of references, quotations, and (when they come) ideas. These programs are very useful for their purpose, but do not encourage one to enter random thoughts or log personal and domestic events on a daily basis. The Journal enables one to do just that, and you are to be congratulated for having made the program so straightforward, transparent, and at the same time elegant in its operation. It is the kind of program that nobody knows they need until they’ve tried it, whereupon it becomes indispensable.” –David Lucking

As you can see, TJ can be used in various ways. The fact that the programmer, David Michael, has added easy to use backup-features, a thesaurus and extensive printing-options makes this a true winner.

You can download a 45 days trial of the Journal at http://www.davidrm.com hejournal/ . I am certain that you will become just as addicted to it as I am, and that you will be happy to fork over $40 once the trial is over.

VPS Web Hosting

Shared hosting allows thousands of people to host their own sites at a very reasonable cost. It has some drawbacks, however. Since hundreds of sites can be hosted on a single server resources such as CPU, disk space, and bandwidth have to be shared with your virtual neighbours.

Shared resources are usually not a problem for small to medium sized sites. Your main limitation is the lack of control over system level software – http servers, mail servers etc. You don’t have any choice of operating system and you cannot compile programs or do administrative tasks such as setting up Spam filters or firewalls.

Many people would say ‘So what? I don’t want to do that stuff anyway!’ It’s true that the majority of website owners have no interest or ability to handle this kind of work and are happy to leave it to the hosting company. Those who desire more control over their server environment or wish to experiment with new software, however, can get access to this level of management with a Virtual Private Server.

A virtual private server (VPS) is a physical server that has been divided (using software) into several virtual machines, each acting as an independent dedicated server. The physical resources such as RAM, CPU and disk space are still shared, but each VPS acts independently of the others. Each VPS can have a different operating system and can be configured in any way possible.

The key advantage of VPS is allowing each VPS administrator access to the root level of his virtual server. This kind of access allows the administrator to install and delete software, set permissions, create accounts – in short, do everything that the administrator of a ‘real’ sever can.

As well as providing more control over your hosting environment, a VPS is more secure than shared hosting. Websites on a shared server all have the same operating system, so if a hacker were to find access to the root of the server he could damage any or all of the websites on that server. A VPS, on the other hand, is divided in such a way that even if a hacker were to gain entry through one account, there is no way to access the others. Each VPS is invisible to the others and there is no way to set up root level access from one VPS to another.

Virtual Private Servers can be set up in various ways so be sure to understand how the hosting company has allocated resources. The most common configuration is to divide all the physical resources evenly by the number of accounts. Thus, if there are 10 virtual servers, each would receive 10% of the total bandwidth, CPU, memory and disk space.

The disadvantages of VPS are almost the same as the advantages. The control that a VPS account provides can be dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing. You have the ability to delete files, set permissions improperly, allow virus-laden software on the system and, in general, really screw things up. If you don’t have the knowledge to administer a server, or are not willing to learn, VPS is not for you.

If your website has outgrown shared hosting, however, VPS offers an affordable alternative to dedicated hosting. When shopping for a VPS host, be sure to find out how system resources are divided up, the number of VPS accounts on each physical server, the method for upgrading, and the choices of operating systems.

10 Tips To Avoid Getting Ripped Off By Web Traffic Experts

If you are looking at ways to increase traffic to your website there are many things you can do. Here are 10 tips to avoid getting ripped off by the mounting army of web traffic experts. Most of them will just take your money and waste your time.

1 – Unless you are particularly lazy or have plenty of money to waste, do NOT pay for information that is easily available FREE of charge. A good place to find FREE web traffic information is http://www.IdeaMarketers.com. Many knowledgeable people post all sorts of valuable information at this site. Just put the word “traffic” or “hits” into the search facility and start reading. Another good site to visit is http://www.searchengines.com/optimization/

2 – Explore all avenues of FREE information and FREE search engine submission before you start spending money. If you do this you will have a “benchmark” of statistics against which you can measure the results of the techniques and information you pay for. Also, implement just one change at a time and monitor your statistics for a few days before making further changes.

3 – If you do something that increases your “hits” and the traffic coming to your site, do more of it. If you do something that decreases your hits and traffic, stop doing it. This demonstrates the advantage of keeping a journal of everything you do.

4 – The more you learn to do for yourself, the less you will have to rely on others to do for you – and the more difficult it will be for others to trick you! There is no more powerful weapon than education. Read books and search the internet for the information you need. A good place to start is to teach yourself HTML (hyper text mark up language). Your education and thirst for knowledge will save you money.

5 – Do NOT, under any circumstances, be gullible enough to believe any of the promises made by persons professing to know how to “drive” traffic through your site. What is promised often does not equal what is delivered. Read past the “hype” to get to the truth.

6 – Check out the credentials of all the self-appointed “experts,” “gurus,” “mentors” and “web professors.” If they have the letters PhD after their name, understand that it probably stands for “piled high and deep.” If you find somebody that you think you can trust, ask for some trade references before you buy their wares. Use them.

7 – Before entering your credit card details into that secure server, remember what you had to do to earn the money you are spending. You can spend every cent you have trying to get traffic to your site. There are thousands of schemes and plans. All of them profess to be the ultimate fix. Remember also how difficult it is to lower that credit card balance when the statement arrives.

8 – This is good general advice for anything. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and has webbed feet, chances are… it really is a DUCK! Trust your instincts. Saying no thank you when you are suspicious of something can save you time, money and grief.

9 – Ask friends to review your website and get them to give you an honest appraisal of it. Any negative comments are good because they will show you where you need to improve. Being “too close” to a project can often blind you from the obvious.

10 – A clean, uncluttered site offering quality information will attract some traffic by virtue of its own inherent value. Conversely, a useless, inaccurate, cluttered site can have thousands of dollars spent on it and it will never retain traffic. You want people to keep coming back, don’t you? Quality content is KING!

For more details on all of the above read Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 of “A Simple Guide to Analyzing All Those Web Traffic Ideas.” You can locate all of these at the Motivation and Self Esteem for Success website at the URL below.

PS: If you think this information might help a friend from falling prey to these dubious practices you can send them a copy of this article (or any related parts) or direct them to the website URL above. Let’s get the word out and put a stop to this.

Virtual Hospitality – The Quest For Free, High-Quality, Webhosting

Launching a website is the crucial step that will transfer your site from residing on one computer to

being spread across the web to appear upon thousands of monitors throughout the globe. However, many

shrink from the very thought of web hosting, looking upon it as an expensive, time-consuming process.

Although this is true with many web hosting providers, you can obtain ad-free, high-quality web hosting…

at absolutely no cost to you.

In the process of writing article, I launched over twenty websites with various free web hosting

providers. I discovered that there are literally hundreds of companies that provide free web hosting. To

my disappointment, most have poor service.

Nearly every provider placed annoying advertisements on each of my pages, promoting cigarettes and other

products that my visitors would think that I endorse. Even when the advertisements were for decent

products, their flashy animations detracted greatly from the content of my site. (Hint: With Internet

Explorer, if you visit a site with distracting animations, press the “escape” key. This will usually stop

them.)

Another disadvantage of most free web hosting services is that the providers often sell their clients’

email addresses to SPAM companies. Ever since I began registering for free web hosting, the amount of SPAM

I receive has tremendously increased. One hosting company offered to sell me a Master’s Degree – for a

“low fee” I could get a M.A. in only five days – no studying, classes, or even a highschool diploma is

required. Another email “invited” me to a birthday party for the CEO’s son, with party favors including a

free 30-day trial for their web hosting service.

Utilize Your Resources

If you use either AOL or AT&T for your Internet service, you have free access to high-quality, ad-free web

space. You don’t have to pay an extra fee or go through the hassle of registering for free web space

because it’s already included in your service plan.

For AOL users, enter AOL keyword: FTP. AOL provides five megabytes per username, totaling 25 megabytes.

Your web address will be http://members.aol.com/AOLusername.

For AT&T users, visit http://home.att.net AT&T gives you two addresses

at which your site can be reached: http://home.att.net/~yoursite and http://yoursite.home.att.net.

The Competition…

I ranked 20+ free web hosting companies from tremendous to terrible. Using a point-based system, I added a

point to their score for every positive service they provided, and each negative service they provided

(such as displaying ads on your site) deducted a point from their score. (Maximum possible points a

company could earn was 20 points) After all this was done, two companies stood at the top of this list -

whose peerless scores far surpassed the scores of any other company! Earning 18 and 14 points

respectively, these two companies far surpassed even major companies like YAHOO! (earning 4 pts), Lycos (6

pts), and even Microsoft (5 pts)!

#1: FreeWebs

FreeWebs resulted with the highest score, claiming the prize for the ultimate web host. With 100 megabytes

of ad-free space, FreeWebs surpasses many paid services! FreeWebs also provides the following free

services:

- Website builder (If you haven’t already created your own website) – Hit counter – Chat rooms – Forums – Guest books – And much, much more!

Please note that FreeWebs gives you code to cut-and-paste into your website. If you don’t know HTML,

simply copy the code to your Clipboard, then open up your webpage with Selida (We discussed this in the

April newsletter. Refer to the end of this article) in “Design Mode.” After that, click where you want the

feature to go, and select “Pase in HTML” from the “Edit” menu. And Selida does the rest for you. It’s that

easy!

Your URL will be http://www.freewebs.com/yoursite. They do require that you place “This website is being

hosted for free by FreeWebs.com” somewhere on your site, but this doesn’t detract much from your site.

Sign up for FreeWebs’ service at http://www.freewebs.com. You won’t

regret it!

#2: Portland

If you desire an easy to use hosting service, Portland Communications is the best provider for you. While

FreeWebs provides many attractive services, it seems to forget the “basic necessities.” (like being able

to upload more that one file at a time)

Placing second with a hit counter and 15 megabytes of ad-free space, Portland Communications has a few

distinct advantages over FreeWebs.

First, Portland provides a much more favorable URL: http://yoursite.port5.com. It is much easier to

remember, and it even appears that you have your own domain name!

Second, you can upload multiple files at once. FreeWebs only allows you to upload one file at a time,

which I found to be a very tedious process. Portland allows FTP access, which means that you can simply

select the files you wish to upload and return when the process is completed.

Note: FTP may be somewhat tricky for the beginner, so you may want to use FreeWebs or Portland, depending

on if you are comfortable with using FTP. I’d suggest trying both of them, and see which on you like

better. If you decide to use Portland, you can purchase a great FTP client (or download a free trial) at

http://xenolth.biz/ftpclient. If you’d like to use a free FTP

client, you will find one at http://xenolth.biz/freeftp.

If you want to be able to upload your website without a hassle, Portland is the hosting provider for you.

Visit http://www.portland.co.uk and sign up for their free

service. Note: although the server is in the UK, your site will have a “.com” address.

Fast Url

Some of the hosting services mentioned above provide URLs that are hard to remember. Instead of trying to

make your visitors remember such a cumbersome URL, you can get a Fast URL like “clix.to/yoursite.” You can

even chose from multiple “.to” addresses. To sign up for this free service, visit http://clix.to/fasturl,

then click “Web Tools and Services,” then click “Fast URL Redirect.” You must have a website before you

can sign up for Fast URL.

General Note: When uploading your website, make sure to name your homepage “index.htm” or

“index.html.” This is because the only way the server knows which page is the homepage is by looking for a

file named “index.”

Launching a website is the goal, the dream, and the joy at the heart of every web developer. It is a

symbol of achievement – a sign of accomplishment. Launching your site enables you to reach the world. Few

things can compare with the satisfaction received from launching a website. Once you launch your site, it

seems to pay for all the time you spent creating it… and makes it all worthwhile. Not only is launching

your site free and rewarding, but the feedback received from visitors brings instant gratification. Sign

up for a free web hosting service. I’m sure you won’t regret it.

Contrapasso

I cannot contain this wrath anymore
Let me release this globule hollow
Let this be one of those that will move up
from under the rivers of Inferno
that will prick your heart like a needle
as you swim and clamor in the angry waters

The liquid’s heat will strip off
my sanguine suit you forced to wear
on your malancholic existence
The water’s putrid will be part of your breath
as you swallow and vomit its pollution
And as you desire to have acknowledged
(even by uttering in simple words) that you are a mimic

You dwell in that circle
only because I wish you to–
For my bubble to prick your heart in pain
For myself to be removed from you
For my wrath today to turn into anger, and then calmness,
and then satisfaction

You will then go to the eighth circle

And I (just wanting to make you suffer employing my own capacity),
will move out of the Inferno.

About the Author: Nicole is a hyper person who wants to get published in her college’s next portfolio. She is basically an optimistic creature who loves Italy and the beach. This is actually her first anger poem. Well, temporary, short-term anger, for that matter (as in, just a 30-minute one). (She got guilty after writing it.)

Internationally Glaciers Are Receding at a Horrific Rate

Glaciers are dethawing at a faster rate than at any period since records were started, states The Observer. Scientists from the International Glacier Monitoring Service, which follows 31 glaciers across 9 mountain ranges, judge that from 1851 to 1971 glaciers shrank at a average rate of 30 centimeters per yr. Between 1971 to 2003 the amount retreating climbed to 55 to 80 cm per year. From then the median has made up greater than 1m per yr. Last season saw the highest reductions yet of 1.3 meters.

Globally glaciers are withdrawing leastwise as fast as those in the sample with potentially disastrous effects for local towns. Soon there could be additional floodings, and in the future, rivers could dry out, leading to keen mains water deficits.

Chamonix village, with its large amount of glaciers, the effects of climate change and the disappearing of glaciers will probably be sharply felt. Perhaps this is why several companies, and locals appear to be more knowing of the events so therefore essaying to take measures to restrain their energy consumption. One hopes it is not too late to stem the effects of global climate change and ensure a future for our kids. So think about how you travel when you go for your ski breaks in Chamonix.

Sell Yourself First…Your Key To More Sales

Selling on the internet is a challenge. There is no
way to come “face to face” with your potential buyer.
That visitor is unlikely to buy from you on the first
visit. It’s likely to take several visits and contacts
before they throw down that cash or credit card.

So, how do you build enough trust in a visitor to
make them a customer who will press that “buy”
button?

Well, here are some tips on getting started with
building trust among your site’s visitors.

Put a picture of yourself on your site. Heck, it
doesn’t even have to be a current one. It can be
like mine at:
http://www.bizsitebiz.com/larryjohnson.jpg .
When my wife saw that she said, “Who is that?”

Have an “About me” page on your site. Let them
know how long you have been working on line and
a little bit about you and how you do business.

My “About me” page on ebay.com tells my bidders
a little bit of information to build some trust before
they place a bid. http://snipurl.com/c8z3

Use autoresponders with a series of messages to
remind them who you are and what you offer.
Include some helpful advice or tips. There are
lots if fr*ee ones around like:

http://www.freeautobot.com/
http://www.sendfree.com/
http://www.getresponse.com/

Give some real testimonials from satisfied customers.
“Ask the man who owns one”, is a great sales approach
that still works.

Use a virtual domain name like:
(www.mybizplace.com/) (not a real URL). To build
credibility, avoid fr*ee sites and hosting that can make
you seem less serious about your business.

Give them a real guar*antee for your products or
services. Very few will really take advantage of
it, but they will feel much better about purchasing
from you when you offer it.

Give them a fr*ee sample/first chapter/ etc. This is
called the “puppy dog” approach. Let them take it
home for a few days and most of the time they will
just have to keep it.

Building trust is not an easy obstacle to overcome.
It is likely to take a number of different approaches
to make your site visitor comfortable with you and
your offer.

Best of luck with your promotional efforts.
